Why Europe’s Support for War on Iran Is Backfiring

Published in The Loop, this article examines why Europe’s support for the US-Israeli war on Iran represents a serious strategic miscalculation. European leaders appeared to hope that aligning with Washington would strengthen US commitment to Ukraine, yet this approach has instead weakened Europe’s own security position. It has placed further pressure on military resources, increased energy insecurity, damaged European credibility on international law, and strengthened Russia’s geopolitical position.
The article argues that Europe cannot safeguard its long-term interests through continued dependence on Washington or by supporting policies that undermine its own strategic autonomy.
